How to spread awareness about your share plan

You have a great share plan in place, but how much do your colleagues know about it?

Your internal communications play a big part in spreading awareness of your share plan. Relying on word of mouth or the occasional email reminder won’t get you the results you want. Having a clear communications strategy will help you achieve this, ensuring you target colleagues at the right time and in the right way.

We recently shared an article on how to demystify your share plan, with tips on how to educate your colleagues about its benefits and long-term value. Now let’s look at best practice to spread awareness and drive better engagement.

Tailored communications

Send personalised emails or letters to colleagues explaining the specifics of the share plan, including how it aligns with their individual employment agreements and how they can participate. This could encourage more questions and interest from colleagues who may otherwise have missed out on this information.

Frequent updates

Keep your colleagues informed about the performance of the company and how it impacts the share plan. Regular updates can help them to see the value of their participation, if they decide to join. Choose to do these in person or through your internal communication channels.

Multimedia content

Whether your colleagues are office-based, hybrid or remote, marketing colaterol can help to bring your share plan to life. They need visual reminders to engage and motivate them to join. Create infographics, posters, brochures, videos or animations that outline the key points of the share plan and make them accessible to everyone. Visual aids can make complex information easier to digest and remember.

Peer influence

Encourage colleagues who have already joined the share plan to share their experiences with their colleagues. Peer influence can be a powerful tool in encouraging participation. Use this opportunity to ask for feedback from participants – this will help you to identify areas for improvement so you can iron out any issues before you roll out your plan to new colleagues or locations.

Leadership buy-in

Add credibility to your share plan by getting senior leaders to endorse it and communicate its benefits. Hearing from leadership will help your colleagues to understand its value, and the ‘why’ behind it.
